We took The Bug on his very first trip to Disneyland. The stairs were his favorite attraction.

Much as happened since I last updated. I want to get back into the habit of documenting The Bug's life, so I will cover the last six months or so in a couple of posts.

Firstly, I met someone who has changed my life nearly as much as Julian has.

He makes everything better, every joke more funny, every minute with Julian happier and every day more hopeful. I love him in ways that I thought would be impossible. Every bit of me that I thought belonged to Julian alone is now shared amongst us three. We are a perfect family; happy and itching to grow. Brian, The Bug and Me.

When Julian was just a few weeks old, I thought I was going to have to give up breastfeeding. I did for three weeks and pumped exclusively. Three weeks of hell. After we got back to nursing again, four months passed of infection after infection and torn up nipples that wouldn't heal. It was terrible. Beyond terrible and I cried everyday. I hated nursing and he wanted to nurse all the time. Then I decided to try some neosporin on the nips and they healed up proper. I've had three more infections and/or clogged ducts since then, but for the most part nursing has been going fabulously. Had I quit, I never would have known the joys of nursing a toddler. Sure, babies are cute and nursing them is sweet, but toddlers are FUN! Julian can hardly contain himself when the nummers are coming out. Why on earth would he just lie there and nurse when he can flip and contort his body into new, exciting positions? He is usually either motorboating me in between sips or fondling my belly. He kicks his legs on whatever he can reach and flips over so that he slides way down, almost off my lap. He pokes my eyes out and plays with my hair. He generally just acts like a goofy little son of a bitch and I love it. I almost missed out on this. I almost missed cuddling in bed when he gets home from visits with his dad, when we just chill, nurse and reconnect. Julian will be 16 months old in a few days. In many ways time has gone by so fast. I know it really won't be all that long till he doesn't want or need to nurse anymore. One more year? Two? Three? All very short time frames. I still want to go till he is 35 and his fiance asks me to stop.

I was hoping for something less ordinary. I figured it would be my word of choice, ASSHOLE. Since he is in the car with me a lot and I am forced to drive the same streets with a bunch of assholes, I thought he heard that one enough to repeat. But shit is easier to say, so shit it is.

We have been living with Julian's stomach bug for going on five days now. I've been puked on more times than I can count. I can't count the number of diarrhea diapers I've changed either.

There is one thing I can count: the number of times Julian had diarrhea while we were in the bathtub together. One. Just the one time. What a good baby.

well i broke down and bought yet another stroller. why is it so hard to find a stroller that works well?

i got this little guy before my little guy was born...

it was cheap, lightweight, uncomfortable, difficult to steer and has little to no storage.

then i got this monstrosity...
which does not, in any way, fit into my subaru impreza. okay, well i did manage to wrestle it into the front seat, but it was a bitch and i don't like being laughed at while losing a battle against a stroller.

so i've opted for this aesthetically pleasing, ridiculously expensive one instead...
so fricken fancy. i hope it doesn't end up on craig's list with the others.

i cannot believe what a wasteful consuming monster i have become! this is it. no more.

something has taken up shop in Julian's chest and won't come out. he was almost wheezing last night and i was more than almost freaking out. and no sleep. again. and lots of crying. we go see Dr Nancy this morning and i really hope she can help. i hope he doesn't have asthma or something. ick. poor baby. and poor mommy. i need more than a couple hours of sleep. i can't wait to visit grandma.

i think julie bug really likes to nurse. sometimes when he is eating, i think about how weird it is that this parasitic kid is eating off me. i mean, i am bigger than him. i could push him off if i wanted to. and i don't want to. i will nurse him forever.
